Vitalis Chikoko is currently the first and only Zimbabwean professional basketball player playing in the top tier men’s professional basketball league in France known as the LNB Pro A/Betclic Elite. As a franchise player for his team Pau-Lacq-Otherz, he is one of Zimbabwe’s most outstanding international sportsmen. He has been active in the professional league in Germany, Italy and now France. Prior to this, he played in the local Zimbabwean league and represented in the 2008 FIBA Africa UNDER 18 championships and the FIBA Afrobasketball 2011 qualifying rounds. As the Captain of the Zimbabwe senior national Basketball team, he has made history in beating the Mozambican national team for the first time in history during the Afro Basket qualifiers in 2019 and 2023. He has been nominated for the LNB most valuable player (MVP) twice and winning the title in 2020. Furthermore, he is the French Cup 2022 Most Valuable Player (MVP). To date, he is the only Zimbabwean to enter the NBA draft in 2013. Vitalis operates in a highly competitive environment, where he is often the only African on the court. Yet he remains one of the few Zimbabwean athletes to have sustained a professional career abroad for over 12years now. With another decade left in his sporting career, he has the talent, can do attitude, and grit to convert his years of experience on the court into a launchpad for his best performance yet. An MVP in his own right already, his best days are ahead of him, an epitome of a brand ambassador for winning brands.
